Note: Translations Done Outside the UAE Are Rejected
A common and costly mistake: bringing a translation from your home country and submitting it to a UAE authority. French traducteur assermenté translations, German Beglaubigte Übersetzungen, apostille-legalized translations, and all other foreign-certified translations are rejected by UAE courts and government departments. UAE law requires that legal translations must be performed by a translator licensed by the UAE Ministry of Justice. There are no exceptions. The document will be returned and you will need to pay for re-translation by a UAE MOJ licensed translator. Call us on 056 462 5222 before you travel with documents.
Legal Translation by Document Type
Every document type has specific formatting, terminology, and authority requirements in the UAE. GloboPrime’s MOJ certified translators specialize in each document category below. Click through to learn more about your specific document type, or call 056 462 5222 for an instant quote.
Personal Document Translation
Marriage Certificate Translation Dubai
Most common translation request in Dubai. An Arabic-translated marriage certificate is mandatory for spouse visa applications through GDRFA, joint bank account opening, adding a spouse to health insurance, registering a newborn at UAE hospitals (DHA requires translated marriage certificate before issuing birth certificate), school enrollment for children, property purchase in joint names, and any court or legal proceeding involving marital status.
Since December 2018, GDRFA requires all marriage certificates submitted for dependent visa applications to carry a certified Arabic translation by an MOJ licensed translator — English-only marriage certificates are no longer accepted. This rule applies regardless of the country that issued the marriage certificate.
Critical check: Name spelling on the marriage certificate must exactly match the passport. A single character difference causes GDRFA rejection. GloboPrime audits this before translation and flags discrepancies. We translate civil, court, church, religious, and nikah nama marriage certificates from 120+ countries. Combined with marriage certificate attestation as one package.
Birth Certificate Translation Dubai
Arabic translation of birth certificates is required for child dependent visa applications, ADEK and KHDA school enrollment, Emirates ID registration for children, health insurance enrollment, and hospital admission. For children born in the UAE, the birth certificate issued by the hospital must be translated for GDRFA registration and ICA applications.
For foreign-born children being sponsored into the UAE, the birth certificate must be attested in the country of origin first, then translated into Arabic by an MOJ certified translator. GloboPrime manages both attestation and translation as one chain. Birth certificates from India, Pakistan, Philippines, UK, USA, Egypt, Lebanon, and 120+ countries covered.
Divorce Certificate Translation Dubai
Arabic translation of divorce certificates is required for remarriage in the UAE (both Dubai Courts and Sharia Courts require proof of previous marriage dissolution), visa applications that ask for marital status declaration, child custody proceedings, inheritance claims, and single status verification. UAE authorities require the divorce decree nisi absolute not the initial decree to confirm the divorce is finalized.
For countries like India where divorce is a court decree, the full certified court order must be translated. For Talaq divorces from Muslim-majority countries, the specific document format varies by country and GloboPrime advises on what is accepted by UAE courts before starting translation.
Death Certificate Translation Dubai
Arabic translation of death certificates is required for inheritance proceedings at UAE courts, DIFC Wills Centre, cancellation of residency visas of deceased, property transfer following bereavement, life insurance claims in the UAE, and pension or end-of-service benefit claims. Foreign death certificates must be attested before translation. For death certificates issued in the UAE for use abroad, we provide MOFA attestation and translation into the target language.
Passport Translation Dubai
Arabic translation of passports is required when submitting passport details to authorities where the passport is not in English or Arabic common for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, and Eastern European passports. Required for visa applications, government service registrations, and court proceedings where a certified translation of the passport data page is specifically requested. Distinct from a certified true copy of passport which is a different service.
Family Book Translation Dubai
Family books (known as Kholasat al-Qaid in Arabic) are official civil registry documents issued in Arab countries — Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Egypt, and others — that record the complete family unit. Arabic-to-Arabic translation (into UAE-standard Arabic) or Arabic-to-English translation is required for immigration, residency, and court submissions. Affidavit Translation Dubai
Arabic translation of sworn affidavits is required for court submissions, notary declarations, statutory declarations, and government applications. Affidavits must preserve the exact legal language of the original — a paraphrase is not acceptable in court. GloboPrime’s translators maintain the sworn declaration terminology and formatting required by Dubai Courts. Combined with affidavit attestation when needed.
Will and Testament Translation Dubai
Arabic translation of wills is required for probate proceedings at UAE courts. Foreign wills used in UAE estate administration must be translated and may require MOFA attestation before courts will process them. DIFC Wills registered for non-Muslims in the UAE are in English and require Arabic translation when enforced through Dubai Courts for mainland assets. Combined with will attestation.
Court Judgment and Legal Notice Translation Dubai
Arabic translation of foreign court judgments is required for enforcement through Dubai Courts or ADJD. The complete judgment must be translated not just the operative part along with any supporting documents. A4 size, original and translation bound, MOJ stamp on every page. The same formatting applies to pleadings, witness statements, evidence bundles, and arbitration awards submitted to UAE courts.
For DIFC judgments being enforced against mainland Dubai assets through Dubai Courts, an Arabic translation of the full judgment is required. GloboPrime produces court-formatted translations that the registry clerk accepts on first submission.
Power of Attorney Translation Dubai
Arabic translation of power of attorney documents is required for use in UAE courts, DLD property transactions, banks, GDRFA, and all government authorities. All UAE courts operate in Arabic. A POA in English used for a property transaction at DLD must be translated to Arabic by an MOJ certified translator before DLD will accept it. Combined with POA attestation and MOFA as one chain.
Property & Financial Document Translation

Important: The driving license translation for RTA exchange is a specialized service. The license categories (A, B, C, D, E) must be translated using the exact RTA-accepted Arabic terminology. Using incorrect category names causes the exchange application to be rejected. GloboPrime’s translators are familiar with the category equivalency mapping RTA uses.

This means the translation quality directly affects your legal position. GloboPrime uses specialist commercial legal translators, not general translators.

Documents Attestation & Legal Translation in Dubai
Legal Translation Combined with Attestation: One Package
GloboPrime is the only service in the UAE that manages legal translation AND the complete attestation chain as one combined package. This matters because for foreign documents, the correct sequence is attestation first, then translation. Many people reverse this and waste money.
For a document from India, for example, the chain is: notary, HRD/SDM, MEA apostille, UAE Embassy, MOFA attestation and Then MOJ Arabic translation. If you translate first and a name error appears during attestation (the most common rejection reason at GDRFA), the translation has to be redone after the corrected attestation. GloboPrime audits both steps as one package to prevent this.
| Document | Correct Order |
|---|---|
| Indian marriage certificate for GDRFA spouse visa | Notary, SDM/HRD, MEA apostille, UAE Embassy + MOFA (combined since Sept 2025 in India), then MOJ Arabic translation in Dubai. GloboPrime manages the full chain from one office. |
| UK degree certificate for MOHRE employment visa | FCDO apostille, VFS London combined UAE attestation, then MOJ Arabic translation for MOHRE. GloboPrime manages UK chain remotely and translation locally. |
| Philippine birth certificate for child visa | PSA certificate, DFA apostille, UAE Embassy Manila, MOFA UAE, then MOJ Arabic translation. Combined with birth certificate attestation. |
| UAE power of attorney for use in India | UAE notarization, MOFA attestation, Indian Embassy/Consulate UAE, then English or Hindi translation for Indian sub-registrar if required. GloboPrime manages both directions. |

What is MOJ Certified Legal Translation?
In the UAE, “legal translation” is a protected term. It refers to translations performed exclusively by a translator licensed and registered with the UAE Ministry of Justice under the Federal Decree-Law regulating the translation profession. Only MOJ-certified translators are recognized by UAE courts, government departments, and official authorities.
What MOJ Translator Registration Requires
To be registered with the UAE Ministry of Justice, a translator must hold a recognized UAE university degree in translation or have at least 5 years of post-graduation translation experience in the required language, pass the MOJ translator registration test, obtain a certificate of good conduct, carry professional error insurance, and take an oath. Registration is renewable on a defined cycle. This ensures every MOJ-stamped translation carries legal accountability.
What a Valid MOJ Translation Contains
An MOJ certified translation includes the official circular stamp of the translator with their MOJ license number, the translator’s name in both Arabic and English, the phrase “مترجم قانوني معتمد” (Certified Legal Translator), a handwritten signature on every page, the original document and translation bound together with numbered pages, and A4 size paper. If any element is missing, the submitting authority will reject the document. GloboPrime produces translations formatted exactly to each authority’s requirements.
When Additional MOJ Stamp Certification is Required
For certain courts and high-value submissions, an additional MOJ stamp certification on the translation itself is required beyond the translator’s stamp. This is a separate authentication step at the MOJ office, distinct from the translator’s license stamp. GloboPrime manages this as part of our court document translation packages.
